2 Timothy 4:2-5 (NIV1984) “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”
The apostle Paul makes plain that Timothy should preach the Word in every environment. He makes it clear that 3 elements are essential when a man of God stands to minister. Correction is necessary for those who pick up false teaching, others need to be rebuked if their behaviour contravenes biblical standards and all need encouraging to walk in truth.
Many pastors today fail to correct and rebuke in case they upset people in the congregation. We need ministers who will endure hardship and discharge all the duties of their ministry!!!
